Where skin, movement, and protection meet

In the Skin Performance Lab, we develop protective layers for the skin that withstand the extreme stresses of sports, work and duty. Based on cutting-edge textile research, we combine comfort, freedom of movement and reliable protection directly on the skin.

Goal & mission

The Skin Performance Lab is the research and testing platform of SKINION X®, built on over 15 years of MedTech textile research at Heppner Apparel. The goal is to protect the skin where it is exposed to extreme stress in sports, at work or on duty. From the downhill course to the factory floor: performance starts at the skin.

Task

In the Skin Performance Lab, real loads from elite sports are transferred directly into product development. This includes test series with athletes and federations, abrasion and cut protection analyses according to EN 17092 and EN 388, biomechanical studies on friction, pressure and micro-movement on the skin, as well as thermoregulation and comfort tests under laboratory and real-world conditions.

Technology platform

The Skin Performance Lab is based on two proprietary technologies from Heppner Apparel: the high-performance fibre H-PEA® with high abrasion and cut resistance, low friction coefficient and optimised moisture management, and the H3D knitting system® with a three-dimensional zone structure for reinforcement in high-stress areas, breathability and freedom of movement. Together they form the first “Protective First Layer”, a protective premium functional base layer that relieves the skin, reduces injuries and still offers maximum comfort.
