Development & production – how skin protection is created

In the Skin Performance Lab, SKINION X develops protective base layers for movement under stress. Research, field testing and controlled manufacturing interlock so that skin protection works exactly where friction, pressure and long-term strain occur.

From elite sports to systematic skin protection

SKINION X was born from real demands in elite sports. Cold, moisture, long wear times and intense movement create extreme conditions – ideal for testing materials and constructions to their limits. The insights gained there form the basis for products that now work in sports, outdoor environments, water sports and professional use. Stronger than steel, yet soft as silk.

Research & testing methods

In the Skin Performance Lab, SKINION X systematically analyzes real skin stress. This includes friction and pressure under equipment, moisture management and long-term strain over hours. In addition, abrasion and cut resistance tests are carried out in accordance with EN 17092 and EN 388 before products go into series production.

Field tests under extreme conditions

Lab values alone are not enough. That’s why SKINION X tests its protective base layers in real-world use, especially in elite sports. In cold, snow, heat and intense movement, materials are tested under typical stress scenarios. The findings flow directly into zone design, material selection and pattern cutting.

Technological foundation of the Protective First Layer

The Skin Performance Lab is based on two proprietary technologies from Heppner Apparel, a company specialized in functional textile development. They form the technological foundation of the Protective First Layer and the systematic skin protection of SKINION X. The high-performance fiber H-PEA® is characterized by high abrasion and cut resistance, low friction and optimized moisture management. It protects the skin where localized stress, friction and long-term strain occur. It is complemented by the H3D knitting system®, a three-dimensional zone structure that strategically combines reinforcements in stress areas, breathability and freedom of movement. Together they create a functional protection system that relieves the skin, reduces mechanical stress and at the same time offers high wearing comfort – as the first layer directly on the skin.
